Alliance Fish Ltd is a family Run business supplying fresh fish straight from Trawler to counter in Amble Harbour
The Counter was first opened in 2020 during the Covid Pandemic as a means to sell our fish as many factories were closed down during that time.
We have built our reputation on the freshest fish landed mainly on the Amble Quayside and filletted within our premises. Our catch sells very quickly due to the demand for fresh fish and the depletion of the small Trawlers which landed their catch on a daily basis. The large trawlers or Pelagic boats spend weeks at sea where the fish is then iced of frozen. We close our doors when the catch is sold and inform our customers when the next catch is due in.
Our fleet mainly fish for prawns but when fish prices are good they will head to further waters to trawl or seinet for fish.
The fish is seasonal so the counter changes with this in mind. Our Species consist mainly of Langoustines, Cod, Haddock, Whiting, Monk, Halibut, Saithe, Lemon Sole, Plaice, Squid, Ling, Hake, Dover Sole, Mackerel, Herring, Witch Sole, Catfish, Red Gurnard, Red Mullet, Turbot, Brill.
We also smoke our own Cod, Haddock (smokies), Herring and Mackerel when in season on our premises. We buy our salmon from a local supplier and hot smoke it.
The Weather naturally dictates the fishing. The boats can spend weeks ashore due to northerly gales which in turn create big swells in the water for entering and exiting the harbour mouth. Big tides are not good for prawn fishing. The prawns bury deep so are not so easy to catch.

The counter is currently sourced by the Fidelity, the Osprey, the Nimrod and the Ellen Mac has now joined our fleet.
Jimmy and Norman land the boats in Amble or Blyth harbour and fillet the catch at our premises on Amble Harbour Quayside. They run the counter alongside Joanne the wife of Steven who skippers the Osprey who also oversees the boats landings, sales and crew. You will also find Curtis helping to land the boats and Billy the eldest son of Steven and Joanne helping out whilst ashore from the Merchant Navy.
The Fishing Industry is facing a huge decline due to Government regulations. We can only hope that the small trawler can make a way back in future to supply more outlets like us, restaurants, schools, hospitals, care homes to name a few. This will also create a lot more jobs ashore for factories which have not reopened since Covid and bring a community together again.
We also have Potting boats who we buy our Lobsters from and are available to buy fresh from the boat.
